Life be passing by, I wanted you to be my past time

We both deserved better, but I still tried

We needed ourselves, I should have taken my heart and placed it on the shelf

I turned a blind eye, neglected myself

Then gave you everything I was afraid to give myself

Life be passing by

Through the years of our situation we both witnessed loved ones die

We continued to try, with no ending goal in mind

This left room for codependency, I need a partner not an enemy

Now I’m resenting you, you're resenting me

This way, it ain’t got to be

Let’s break away and be free cuz God has so much in store for me

And you too, I need space so you do you

Cuz life be passing by

So it’s time to let go so we both can fly

Note: I hope you enjoyed this poem, it was inspired by past a romantic relationship. I will be sharing more poems on moments and experiences of the many relationship dynamics both pleasant and painful.
